Cuttings from Pomona Gardens

Since this year, the Botanical Conservatory “I Giardini di Pomona” has decided to give its contribution to the knowledge and dissemination of the Ficus carica species by making its collection available to the general public, built up over thirty years of patient research, collection and exchange work.

The CUTTINGS of the varieties of this private collection have never been put on sale except in very small part to amateurs who came to visit us and were particularly interested in purchasing some varieties tasted
directly in the field and not available in even specialized nurseries.

In the section of our website dedicated to the VERA project — Sustainable agricultural models for biodiversity preservation, you will find the Catalogue of Ficus carica Varieties with the surveys carried out by Paolo Belloni and the team of “I Giardini di Pomona™, in collaboration and under the scientific guidance of Ferdinando Cossio during 2024 — a particularly dry year — on non-irrigated plants and grown on poor soils. Ferdinando Cossio is the main author of the photos contained in the cards.

We thank in advance all those who will want to support our research by purchasing the cuttings directly from the Botanical Conservatory, or by requesting their shipment, thus allowing us to continue this very important.

Consult here the pdf catalogue of all the cuttings available for purchase.
